I stablilzed this curly maple blank using a vacuum press and minwax wood hardner with blue dye added. I left it in a vacuum for about 12 hours , The dye did not penatrate all the way thru , it is still white in the middle , I am going to try another and let it set for 24 hours. I will let you no how that turns out.

Did you put the hardener and dye in at the same time? And if so, what kind of proportions did you use?
I think it looks great.

Kevin I put the die in the hardner , it did not measure . I made the color very deep , my thinking was that there would be areas where the hardner would not penatrate . I have some more blanks that I have left in the hardner / dye for more than 48 hours . I will give them a week to dry and turn them I will post them if the results are differant . I have some splated maple , curly maple , and oak burl drying now.
