Ok, ok, it’s painted, I know. But it’s only pine so there really wasn’t anything to show off as far as wood goes. The star however is Paduk and is NOT painted. I wouldn’t do that to that beautiful wood. The paint, by the way, is milk paint. The powdered stuff. Not the fake stuff you can get in a can. I made this for my sister-in-law to go with her Willow Tree nativity set. I made the back wall of the backdrop by slicing 1/8” thick pieces of pine 2×4 and 1×4. The 2×4 I was slicing happened to have a couple knots in it. It worked out great. I pushed the knots out to make knot holes for a kind of white washed old barn board look.

great build. they are way overpriced in the store; I think I will build one for my wife

Thanks. I agree on the overpriced part. It’s pretty ridiculous.
