This cutting was quite a challenge for me. And quite a headache (literally!) I cut this rose from 1/2” Yellowheart. I really hate to love this wood. Yellowheart is a beautiful tight grained wood, but ROCK HARD!!! I think I went through at least a dozen or so blades on this one. Due to all the details in this rose, I had to break it up into 3 or 4 nights of cutting about an hour or so at at time, each night ending with a headache. The night I finished it, I had such a bad headache it put me on my back for an hour. I had been getting headaches from longer sessions at the scroll saw, but this was the one that did it. The next day I called the optometrist and scheduled an eye exam, and the next week and a nice shiny new pair of glasses and now I’m scrollin’ happily once again!

Truly outstanding! Roses are always hard to capture and you’ve done a tremendous job. Really like it.

With that excellent piece, all the hard work paid off. Truly a work of art.
