I just started turning a few weeks ago when I took my first pen turning class at Woodcraft. I must say after the first slimline I am “HOOKED” all the way now. Due to some other obligations I was unable to get started in my own shop until yesterday. So here are the final results after about six hours of fun. The results are 2 classic rollerballs in oak and zebrawood, 1 classic fountain in spalted maple and 2 key chains in redwood burl.

I have never tried to turn a pen. But now I don’t know if I should. If you get addicted to it…I’ve got to many other projects unfinished…LOL
Very nice looking pens and key chains. Well done.

Those are great looking turnings Grant. Where are you getting the pen kits? I like that style. I usually turn slimline and european, but have tried these yet.
You did a great job with these…and great pictures by the way too.

Woodhacker, the pen kits for these were purchased from Woodnwhimsies.com and the key ring kits are from Rockler.

Beautiful pens – especially for the first ones! Great choices of wood and the finish looks great.
