Fine furniture its not.

In one of those odd things that happen in life, we got a rabbit the day Sandy hit the East Coast.

So, as the hurricane shook the house outside, and I crossed my fingers that the power would not go out, the kids and I embarked on our first rabbit hutch. Built with left over wood, 2×4 ripped to square, kreg pocket holes and glue to hold it all together. You can see the “left over” issues when you look at the the lid. Made of three parts of bead board panel. Small box inside also from left over bead board.

Nothing keeps a kid interested in a project more than a pneumatic stapler.

With the snow and colder weather, added a radiant floor (3’ pipe heater) in the bed box (no photo), did not like the side wrap, and acrylic on three sides to cut down on wind. Did charge the kids for the change order.

Rabbit doing fine.

cheers, johnl

I have quite a few not fine furniture projects…lol! The finest thing was working with the kids! Not sure about how cold it gets where you are, but you can get a small animal heating pad..waterproof, low electric draw, from Amazon.

The rabbit probably thinks it’s fine. When you have to do something quick and it just needs to work and be practical it doesn’t have to be fine. Good work.

Tks for the supportive comments, it does not get real cold in MD, but in the 20’s this week, the radiant floor is working well and the Rabbit (Peter Puggins) is happy with his long winter coat.

At my house and shop, many, if not most, projects are not fine anything. But they all sure are fun!

John, Just took second look at this. Looks like it turned out well. Like to see the kids in the shop and working on something they like and have a part of.
