This is a name plate I made for my wifes desk at work. It is carved with handtools from one solid piece of 6.75” x 4.75”x 7/8” basswood. The finish is one coat of 50/50 BLO and mineral spirits, and one coat of matte enamel. It remains upright via a 1/4 plywood leg attached to the back with a hinge.

Ok…Gotta ask. Why the shape of a mouse ? By the way, Really nice carving. It tookme a minute to fing her name….But, again I ask….Why the mouse ?

Thanks for all of the comments. The reason for the mouse is that my wife is a biologist and one of the organisms of study are mice and rats, and she if very fond of them.
