This is my most recent box that I just finished. It is made from the red oak leftovers from my clock. I decided that I would finally give hand cut dovetails a try. I was a little reluctant at first but then as I started cutting them, I realised that it wasn’t too difficult. I also tried something else I haven’t done before on my boxes. I decided to put a roman ogee on the lid and the bottom with a router. The finish is a red mahogany stain with 2 coats of shellac. I really enjoyed trying hand cut joinery for the first time and look forward to doing more. Thanks for looking!

Very nice box. Dovetails are nice and tight, no gaps, look real good.

It’s a pleasure to see you work like that!

Nice work!. I have the same dovetail jig. first time I used it was a complete disaster. I admire people with a good hand for dovetails. keep up the good work!.
