A friend wanted a trophy shelf for his son’s athletic awards. The boy is a football fan of the University of Tennessee, so choosing the color scheme and jersey name plate was easy. The father has the son’s name tattooed down his forearm in a tribal font that was copied along lower middle upright. The side shelves are adjustable. The case is 6’ long x 4’ high.
Except for the UT end zone “checkerboard” layout, it was a fun project.

Thanks a1Jim. When people know that you make wooden things, they must think that you are also a designer. My friend said make something to get the kid’s trophys off the floor. When asking for more direction, he just said anything I build, will be fine. I did ponder cinder blocks and 2×6’s, but alas the challenge of adding some elements to a simple shelf case and making it unique. I used french cleats as the mounting system, one behind the name plate and the other under the case bottom.
Have your say...
