Just finished another cutting board that I gave as a Christmas present for some good friends of mine. This board is made from Mahogany, Maple, and Walnut and is about 15” x 11” x 1-1/4”. I treated this with 7 coats of General Finishes Salad Bowl Finishing Mix and sanding with #0000 steel wool in between. I am still saving up for the band saw I want so I basically cut this out with a jigsaw and shaped it with my floor-standing belt sander/handheld belt sander.

Nice work on this cutting board Darryl. Way to use the tools you’ve got as well. You’ll love the bandsaw, once you get it. It’ll make these types of projects and cuts easier.

Thanks! Yeah, I will be purchasing one really soon. I like the 17inch Rikon so that is most likely the one I will get.

Sweet ! I’d also be gunning for a spindle sander to fair the concave parts. That’s gotta be a bit of a trick with a belt sander !
