This Cabinet has been made to support the model of St Patrick Cathedral. There are 13 Cabinets in all that make up the support structure for the model. Seven of them will have dedicated motion either horizontal or vertical. This will allow the viewer to see the interior’s. Cabinet 8 with the walnut rail was designed to pull out 24”. This motion will allow me to slide out the front center of the model for viewing the internal details, etc. There is a blog on how it was built. Also in the blog are some internal components and an explination of their function.

Brian, your craftsmanship is just outstanding. This looked to me like the beginning of a model train layout, I’m guessing the model will have lighting on the inside and that’s what the wiring holes below are for? Is the model build already and is there anywhere I could see it? Model building and MRR’ing are my other two hobbies.

Pat, this is a base stand for a wooden cathedral model. 3/8” scale. I have a prototype of 3/16 scale for a basic construction guide. The cathedral will be made out of hardwood and glass. I have many layouts of sections of the building that can be shown if interested. I will blog the construction of the model when I start. There are 5 more cabinets to be worked on first. Thanks

Brian, I WOULD BE VERY INTERESTED!!!! I have attached a small diorama I scratchbuild and hope you don’t mind.
My wife and I have friends that live in Bath, Pa and from what I remember Wind Gap is very close by. If and when you start building the model I would love to come and see it first hand.
