1st Bowl is West Australian Jarrah. a hard wood but very nice to turn.

2nd Bowl is New South Wales Red Cedar, a soft wood. My first attempt at doing a square bowl or a bowl with wings

3rd is my first attempt at the inside/out vase. Made from recycled Oregon or Douglas Fir.

Three months with the lathe and I am still having fun, seeing something and having a go at doing it but in my own way.

Regards Bob C.

Bought a new lathe about 6 months ago and have only turned it on once to see if it worked. LOL
I have plans of using it, but got a couple of bigger projects to deal with first. Yours turned out nice. Thanks for sharing.

Great projects. You seem to have a knack for turning.

Bob,

These are very nice turnings. It is amazing to me that you can produce something this gorgeous after only 3 months.

Thanks for the post.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Even though I don’t know the basics of turning I have fun trying to do something new.

Lesson for all: respect your machinery, in my eagernesss to progress, I removed the top of my thumb on the bench saw, cutting burls to make rounds, the wood caught twisting my thumb onto the blade. Nothing a skin graft wont fix. Doesn’t matter how careful you are the danger is always there.
