I built this walnut chest for my sister a couple of years ago. I’m a hobby woodworker and I’m inspired by others pictures so I thought I’d throw my design out there. The walnut used is somewhat sentimental as it came from my great-grandfathers farm in Iowa. Walnut is one of my favorite types of wood.

just plain -wow- !
I don’t do my walnut that much justice!
If i don’t get to milling it soon, i won’t even have a chance to ruin it with my woodwork tools!

Great work. I’m in the process of making one similar to this right now. Great work and welcome to LJ’s the greatest web site out there!

Nice clean design and contrast between the frame and the panels. Personally,I think I would have kept the grain direction consistent (likely all vertical) on the panels.

Thanks everyone. There is a lot of talent on this site. Plenty of inspiration to try to improve. Dwight I agree that those panels should have been all vertical.
