Earring Box

This is a box I made for a pair of earrings I bought for my wife for Christmas. This box was the most fun I’ve had with a project in a long time. Very simple in it’s construction and very small.

The box is red cedar and birdseye maple with a cherry lip to help seat the lid. Finish is shellac inside and French polish outside. The box was very well-received by my wife, who knew about the wall decoration, but not this little surprise. I will be making more small boxes in the future because of how well this one turned out for everyone involved.

Thanks for looking!

Jarred, nice work here. I liked the other boxes in your gallery too. I can’t tell for sure from your photos, but you can match the corner grain on three sides if you cut the lengths for your sides first then undercut these with 45s. Masking tape will let you cut the inside lip board and the sides both at the same time. Keep boxing and keep posting.

My dream is to build these simple little boxes. Are there any plans for these online anywhere?
