Walnut desk

This is a walnut desk I made for my youngest daughter for Christmas. The drawers are built out of cherry and dovetailed. It is finished with 5 coats of arm r seal. I used the self closing slides, but really dont like the additional effort to release the spring when opening, so they may get changed out. I wanted to add just a little something, so I used square plugs out of walnut instead of something with too much difference in color so it would’nt flash too much. But after finishing they almost blend in too much. I was hoping the end grain of the plugs would have shown up a little better. Oh well, very fun project, more lessons learned and this should last her a lifetime. Plus I have left her little hidden messages that hopefully she will find one day.

Great job on this beautiful walnut desk and great job giving your daughter a present for life. I’m sure she will be liking it beyond our years and if she ever has kids of her own, I’m sure it’ll get passed down…
