This is a pencil holder that I made for my wife to put on her desk at work. She is a school teacher and I thought it would be nice for her desk. I had seen Marc make one similar to it which is were the idea came from. I used birch on the base and stained it with ebony to make it a little darker. For the sides I used some exotic that I had gotten from rockler. It was only a few bucks so I picked it up. For the top I cut a rabbit an 1/8” X 3/4” and put a walnut band around it. After finishing I put black felt on the bottom and on the inside just to try and make it more classy. Much like all the little stuff I have been doing I learned a lot from doing it and hopefully can do better next time.

Very nicely done. I like the contrast in wood colors at the top, and the nice tight fit. Good build.

nice job, I also like the contrast of the wood. Do you remember the exotics name you used for the sides? Like the grain on that

I will have to look next time I go to Rockler because it was in there pile of exotic shorts. They had it listed as ANG but I cant remember what it stood for.

Nice pencil holder!

Your wife’s co-workers will all be jealous and want one too!
