This box was a huge learning experience for me. I knew that I needed new tires and a new spring for my bandsaw but kept putting it off. Well it hurt me on this box but I had a deadline that was close so I thought I could sand the flaws caused by the blade not having enough tension. After I got that looking somewhat decent I began to shape the box. This was my first time using figured Maple and I remembered a video that Marc the Woodwhisperer done and decided to “pop” the grain. What I ended up with was a bunch of black dots. So I had to sand more than I wanted to. I was in such a hurry that I did not try it on scrap piece first, huge mistake. I only had 1 week left til the due date and then I get the flu. I somehow toughed it out and finished it the day of the promised deadline. Customer was very happy and it Santa gave it to a little girl Christmas morning and she is loving it I heard. I am back at work now and finally over the flu today hopefully.

Good looking box—I particularly like the sculpted, flowing appearance of the front.

nice job on the box and nice job getting it done by the deadline since you were sick. I hate deadlines and being sick! NOT FUN!!

That turned out really nice in spite of the problems that had occurred while on the process.

I got a call last night from my customer. He said he was reluctant to tell me but he had to. He said that his wife wants to order another box for their daughter. When I asked why he said they decided the box was too beautiful to give to a child so he gave it to his mother who is in love with it. So now I have another order!
I get to my normal job today and someone else called and they want a box also! There is a problem with this one though. This person wants Box Elder with a nice pinkish streaking in it and I am striking out finding some. Oh well.
Have your say...
