So I’ve been restoring stuff for years, but this is one of my first real projects from scratch.
Over the summer my mom found a Victorian cast iron shelf bracket. She bought it and tasked me with making a shelf for it. It is eventually going to be painted to match the other shelves in her room.
The pine was hand planed from rough cut pine. I just kinda shadowed the bracket onto the back support piece. In retrospect, I think I should have gone with less detail. Rough cuts were completed on a band-saw, and then cleaned up with chisels. I put one coat of blonde shellac on it in as a sealer.
If it ends up being over a stud, i intend to remove two of the screws from the bracket and put some longer ones in. If not, then ill just put two holes through the back.
Hope ya’ll like!
