Just completed a Floating wall shelf. The wood is Cherry from Tennessee. My Co-Worker PflugervilleSteve aka Steve Decovic and I went up to Kingsport, TN earlier this year and found a saw mill that had a bunch of scrap Cherry. We bundled up several board Feet, shrinked and brought back on the plane to Austin, Texas. We paid somewhere around .50 to .75 a board foot. It was still wet, but heck at that price I thought we could find a project or 2. The wood has been sitting in my shop for 6-8 hot summer months. I found a pattern on The Wood Whisperer and my son Brandon and I punched this one out over the Christmas Holiday. This one is pretty plain, Brandon didn’t want to get fancy. We are working on another slightly different with the back piece angled and with live edges.. We’ll post it when we are done.
