this little box i made is so the squirrel can see the food in the box BUT the squirrel has to lift the lid in order to get the food…this box also keep the food dry…and the squirrel has a platform to sit while he enjoys his/her meal

It wont take those furry little rodents but A MINUTE to figure out how to get to the food! You shoulda made it bigger, they’ll clean that out in no time :-)

It might be worth putting a little rubberband or spring or something on the side if they figure it out too quick. It would be interesting to see if they can figure out how to prop it open w/ anything other than their heads.

And just how do you propose to teach them to close the lid?
Good project, but I do not care for the little yard rats … They mess up my bird feeders.
