This workbench was made out of Chestnut Oak, Cut of my own land here in Boone, N. C. in the spring of 2005 I made and finished this Bench in the Spring of 2008, Something I have wanted to do for over 35 Years.
It will weigh between 325 and 350 pounds. Anyone that would like to talk about this bench just e-mail me, and I would like very much talk about the making of it.

I want to make something like this, but I can’t afford to make it out of oak!!! :) I’ll probably settle for a cheaper wood. Great job on yours though. 350 pounds must make it really sturdy. How long did it take to make?

This is a very cool looking bench, great job! I especially like the shelf. Did you design this yourself? It a very unique looking bench I’ve never seen one quite like it.

Thank you Mjlauro, Yes it is my design. But the wood is the best thing I have been working with wood for 60 years, and this is some of the best I have ever seen. The very best kind of Oak.

That is a real beauty. I like the idea of the lower shelf.

That is one beefy looking bench you got there! Great looking job, made from some interesting wood.

This is a wonderful bench and certainly an original design. If I had something like this I would have to throw a sheet of plywood over the top of it whenever I used it to keep from scratching it up.

Thanks for the post and the story behind it as well. Using wood that you milled yourself gives this piece even more interest.

Well done.
