A very Louis cube Christmas

This is a little box I made for my wife for Christmas. I finished it Christmas Eve at around 11 pm. It was close, but I got it done.

The wood is QS maple, the Louis cubes are made from maple, walnut and cherry veneer. The edging is bubinga, as is the trim between the top and bottom.

I used Old Brown Glue for the veneer work, I love that glue.

The finish is super blond dewaxed shellac, about a 2lb cut. After rubbing out the shellac I applied a coat of paste wax on the top only, just to dull the sheen and add an extra layer of depth to the Louis cubes. I flocked the inside and as you can see, it did not take long for her to fill the box.

Thanks for looking,
Jeremy

Very nice gift Jeremy. Excellent craftsmanship and the flocking looks to have turned out well.

Very nicely done. What is the technique for flocking?

That came out really well. Great job on the 3d cubes : )
