The speakers are an “open baffle” design I saw on diyaudio.com. The baffle is 1.5” plywood (2×0.75” lalminate) which has been veneered in wenge. I had a bunch of veneer leftover from my cooktop project. The base is alos plywood painted black. The baffle is fixed to the base using a “heavy-duty universal connector” from Rockler (sku 57218). This was still al little unsteady so I added a couple of black shelf brackets I found at Home Depot. I used several coats of tung oil for the finish. They sound great.
Marginally a frame but I couldn’t find a tag more suitable.
