Toy Box/ Treasure Chest

These are gifts I made for my nephews Made of Ash (main box) and Walnut (strapping). The lighter strapping is walnut as well but it all sap wood which is much lighter than the heart wood. These took a lot more time than I initially anticipated and therefore the last coat of poly and wax went on the day before they needed to be given. The biggest challenge was bending the strapping over the curved lid. In the end the strapping was just under a ¼” and therefore I could just bend and glue it with the force of clamps without it cracking. I was also going to put a large latch on the front but my wife suggested that the boys would just lock each other in the box so I left it off.

Thanks for looking.

Looks like a great job on these.

Somebody would probably get locked in, agreed :-)
