i made this squirrel house about 2 months ago…i used leftover ceder fence board..i think a great horned owl is actually using it rather than a squirrel but any way it is
22” tall
the opening on the side is 3×3 inches
if you are going to make one you MUST mount it 10 feet or higher
best if the opening is facing the opposite direction of the wind
best to use untreated wood if you can..squirrels will chew on the opening
place the nesting house above or under a limb …
if you do want a owl to live in it make the opening 1/2’” bigger and also put some kind of bedding in it because owls can not make their own nest.. i put wood shavings in mine filled it about 1/4 deep
also keep in mind that owls do want to sit on a branch above the nesting box to hunt
the higher you hang it the better

Nice of you to provide the owl with squirrels to eat as well as a nest box!
