I made this peel as a christmas gift for a friend. I was inspired by and basically followed the instructions here and used cherry and walnut in varying widths for the flat part. The handle and centre section is birds-eye maple laminated with some wenge on the top. The shaping was done with a spokeshave and finished with a random orbit sander. I tapered about 4 inches around the leading edges to about 1/16” of an inch from about 3/8” to make it easier to scoop up the pizza. It is finished with a few coats of tung oil.
The final width is just over 12” and it just so happens that it fits inside his pizza oven so that is a good thing.
