I always wanted a Gerstner Wooden Tool Chests but it was out my price range.
So last summer I decided to see if I could build one, it was a fair amount of work but here it is.
All made from cherry, trimmed with walnut and solid maple drawer interiors.
Not the caliber of a Gerstner Wooden Tool Chests but, maybe close.
Now it looks like I have to make another one, my wife confiscated it for a jewelry box.

That is one nice tool/jewelry box. A tool chest like you made is on my project list. I think nice tools should go in a nice box. You did a really nice job on that chest. I can see why your wife would confiscate it.

I agree on the jewelry box idea

Sweet! Nicely done. I really like cherry as well. The proportions look great!

Truly amazing work. I have always wanted to try this project but have not had the nerve. Love the wood tone and knobs on the drawers. Good job!

Very nicely done, really like the cherry with walnut trim.

I’m betting “fair amount of work” is a gross understatement! It turned out beautifully and will get even more stunning as that cherry ages.

I’ve seen the recent Gerstner’s, and I would say yours wins hands down in a side by side review.

I can only dream about creating something as amazing as this. Thanks for sharing. With the inspiration from your project I am one step closer to building one myself…soon.

@Dave—Gorgeous, simply gorgeous! Did you work from a plan, or did you just look at the Gerstner boxes and design it yourself? In either case, your design and execution is worthy of a Gerstner label, but put a “Dufour” on it, for sure!

I hope i can store my tools in something that nice one day. Mind you that means i’d actually clean up my shop and put them in their correct place once in a while
