This granadillo was a gift from my LJ buddy Jeff. I wanted to make something worthy of this cool wood so I made a second box from this same design as I loved the first one of Birdseye maple and walnut. Dimensions:12 1/2×8 1/2×5 1/2”. Wood: granadillo and maple. The granadillo was resawed giving me 7/16” thick stock. Top was bookmatched and framed with maple using pinned half lap joinery (pins were granadillo). Sides were built in similar manner, then mitered and splined with granadillo. Tray and dividers are maple. Patron/Grizz hinges of hard maple. Finished with Deft rattle can lacquer (semi-gloss). This is one of my favorites. Hope ya’ll like it.Edit: That cool figure on the maple is from quarter sawing some pretty ordinary maple.
