Felt left out of mallet swap, so made this for myself on Saturday. Turned from recycled maple I found at a local Habitat for Humanity store.

nice design and shiny finish. What did you use? Generally the wedge should go across the grain of the head so you don’t risk splitting the head in half.
Great way to recycle.

Thanks for the advise on the wedge…never knew that! This was only my second attempt at a mallet, so very timely info. Thanks!

I generally like using BLO for tools, but for “The Judge” (thanks woodshaver) i used polyurethane. Since its maple I dont want the wood to stain from use.
