Backyard Deck

Old project from a few years back but just getting around to posting. When we moved in the deck was in rough shape (first pic). The pickets were rotten and I was afraid squirrels would even be falling through them with the slightest push. One photo shows my wife even taking a hated swing at them! The stairs were a fun-house experience swaying side to side as you walked up them.

A good buddy of mine lead the ‘thinking’ process for me and we both got this done over the span of three days including tearing the old beast down. We added an extra two feet of width to better accommodate the dining table and chairs. I also added a gate for my 1 year old son at the time. Most worthwhile addition was the plastic corrugated roofing material underneath the deck to give us an an extra ‘room’ under the deck in the summer months even in the rain! Unfortunately, no good photo of the nice shaded area under the deck.

Good looking deck
