I made a box from some Black Locust firewood from my grandparents woods. Its going to be their Christmas gift, I hope they like it. Milling was more work than I thought it was going to be. The wood had a lot of cracking and checking, so it was hard to get good pieces. The lid is trimmed in Rhengus and splined with Bloodwood. Finished with salad bowl finish.

Great box, one of these days I will make a lift off top; all of mine have hinges.
And when you get to mill it and assemble it, the chest sticks out a bit further.

Nicely done.
-- Mother Nature created it, I just assemble it. - It's not ability that we often lack, but the patience to use our ability
Have your say...
