Another Christmas present done and some smaller ones to go ,running short of time but I am on holidays now and have more time for the shop.
This box is a pointed oval shape with a dished lid made from walnut and maple which I textured because the grain was rather boring .
All the bent parts are made on the same jig by varying the amount of curve ,the lid is two strips folded and the cut on a jig similar to a common tapering jig .
The dished lid is to function as a tray and the style of the box is a medley of several styles .
The finish is a satin wipe on poly .

Super nice. I like the textured side, and the whole design. Very kool. Of coarse the wood combos are awesome as well.

Wow, this is beautiful. I really like the way you textured the wood. This is a really nice design, as well. Is it your own?

I really like it.
Is it just me or does it look a little shippy?
Anyway it looks very nice for several reasons… Shape, balance, texture, finish …..
Thumbs up !!

That is quite an accomplishment! Love the texturing and the curved top. Looks a little ark like to me.

Yor craftmanship is always “spot on” Kiefer as with this lovely piece. But your design with this one is simply fabulous, just love it.

Kiefer….boy, do I like this one! Great design and execution. The textured sides, the curves, the concave lid, everything seems to be in harmony. Great flow and rhythm to the whole piece. Congrats!

Beautiful work, very artistic and, of course, nicely done as always.
