This is a piece of maple burl measuring 7.5” by 7.5” and is finished with wipe-on poly. This was my first attempt at a natural edge turning.

trifern, verrrrrry nice! Congrats on your first attempt at a natural edge turning, truly beautiful! I haven’t attempted such yet but like all of your pieces it inspires me to do so!

Great work friend… No problems with the open edges blowing out on you? I had a piece come apart on the lathe.

I haven’t tried that myself. I’m afraid I would wreck it … nice job!

Thanks for all the nice comments. It was a challenge and a bit of a mind freak sticking my hand inside the bowl with all the sharp edges.

Trifern, you are making magic there, I’ve been turning quite a while now and have never produced anything as nice as that. I’ll bet it was scarey sticking your tools in there. I never had the guts. Great, beautiful job. mike
