My sister wanted a “large” cutting board. She’s getting one! Walnut and Maple (that was salvaged from a 100 yr. old piano). It weights 17 lbs. and measures 17×18 x 2.75 so I thought I’d better make a smaller mate that would be easier for smaller, everyday jobs.

I found out that there would be a couple of extra people joining the Christmas celebration so I added a couple of more to the list. The third pic is a board of the piano maple and the fourth is purpleheart and the same maple.

Thanks Jim…pretty easy boards as boards go but it was the “days to spare” that I was excited about! :-)

nicely done. if you have any more of that salvaged piano wood you should make one that looks like a keyboard!

Very cool. I like the thickness. There’s just something about a nice butcher block that makes me want to fire up the table saw. But the neighbors might not like that at midnight.
