This table and stools was made from a combination of sapele and Scandinavian redwood. The hardest part was figuring out the splay on the legs so the joints were cut on the correct faces. I used dowel joinery. The
Dowelmax jig made short and easy work of the 32 angled joints. I now think of how much this jig saves me rather than how much it cost me, which was the prime consideration before I bought it.
Where possible I also use the Kreg pocket hole jig in conjuction with dowels as a replacement for clamps. This combination gives an ultra strong joint.
The finish is pre cat laquer.
