new house we are building

Project by PaBull posted 543 days ago 954 views 4 times favorited 26 comments Add to Favorites Watch

We started with the plans about four years ago, broke ground three years ago and started building two years ago, last week past finals. most of the woodwork and cabinet work was done by me. Cabinets are maple.

It was 10/26/06 we started clearing our lot from the best producing avocado trees on our property, to make way for the house. We cleared an acre.

Next was the grading, we had to cut the top off the hill, all granite/d.g. hard material, next is distributing it over the property.

Her's master bath cabinet
Master bathroom cabinets before I hung the doors or drawers.

Cabinet in the potty room in the master bath. I bought a sink with cabinet at Lowe’s and tossed the cabinet, just kept the sink and build the cabinet around it.

5/13/08 it was late but I got the second coat Tung oil on the first floor. After this we need to put 2 more coats of Zar, a polyurithane.

You have a beautiful home in the works. The kitchen looks to be functional and well-designed.

This is looking pretty good so far.

Thanks for sharing.

The servants’ quarters look real nice. How about a few photos of the main house? <g>

Must be very satisfying to do all that work yourself and watch everything come together as planned. Congratulations!

I am planning the same idea for our retirement house. Have you posted any blog? I would love to learn from your experience and craftsmanship.

Marco, I took lots of pictures (but never enough), during the process of building, so I can start filling in the blanks and tell you about the project.

That’s a beautiful house you’re building. Great cabinets. That’s the phase I’m on now. You need to sign on to HomeRefurbers and post your house there. We’re trying to get that site going too.

A dream home for sure! The location looks wonderful too. Now you’ll be able to enjoy your fine work for years.

Cheers,
Kerry

PS – Whadaya mean you broke ground 3 years ago – heck – I see a guy on TV every week that can build a house in weekend! Of course, he has unlimited funds and 3 thousand people to help :-)

Question, how do you guys get the smaller images posted on your project sites? My pictures seem to come out very large.

Very beautiful home. Ok, the cabinets in the kitchen really now, that’s some nice room for your tools right? Nothing like having a sink in the workshop. And those wood floors..will be real easy to sweep the chips out the door right? The master bedroom…well you have to have some place to sleep after working all nite and day in your ktichen/shop right? Really though, looks like a wonderful place to live in and thanks for sharing I just had to tease you. If it were me here..I’d leave the kitchen totally out of the picture. LOL You can downsize your pictures on your computer and they won’t be so large. I usually set mine around 500 depending on the object. Again thanks for sharing your home. Looking forward to seeing the progress.

Currently i am working on getting the above ground pool fenced in and the spa hooked up. After that I will be working on the lawn in the back yard.
