These two pieces of “joy” were almost my undoing (see my blog on the matter). I thought I’d never finish these two projects. Bewtween the warping and splitting of the cheap knotty pine that was used I almost gave up. Nevertheless, patience prevailed and this is the outcome.
Kudos to Petriwood: a silicone/cedar oil sealant that strengthened the wood well enough that it stopped splitting on me.
