Intarsia Bear

I made this intarsia bear for a friend of mine who collects bear stuff. The bear itself is made from a single oak board that had nice grain and good color variations to pick from. I cut the main head piece from a portion of the board that had a natural defect in it, which worked well for the eye. The grass, base, and backboard are all pine. It’s finished with clear satin spray lacquer.

I searched Google images and found a picture to use for a template over at vincent.shadedviews.com so I want to give them credit. Check out their work.

Very nice—I like the way the grain flows like the hair of the bear.
