I made this scooter because my son just turned 3, and my wife bought him a plastic scooter from Toys are Us, and it was 15 bucks. It had simple casters under it, and really no complicated design to it.
I wanted to prove to my wife that I could build a better looking, bigger and higher quality scooter for less money out of wood.
This scooter was made using one piece of 96 inch 2X6, and scraps of half inch plywood I had lying around the shop.
The casters are from a Costco metal shelf that came with wheels that I never put on, and had them sitting in a drawer. You can get casters pretty cheap though from the hardware store, and obviously they don’t need to be the high quality ones like on this scooter. They only need to hold 35 to 40 pounds, divided by 4 casters.
I pre-drilled and secured everything using decking screws and Elmer’s glue.
