Made this for an old (82) friend of mine in WV. I do work for this guy and his wife in the Spring and Summer and he was saying he wanted to build a cheese press. Well, I knew he’d never get around to it so over the Summer, I collected all the stuff to do it with from cast-offs (junk) around his property. The show “Pickers” would love to come to this guy’s place. He has at least one of anything in the world either in his barn (somewhere) or laying on his property (somewhere.)
Over the Summer, unbeknownst to him, I got a piece of 6’’ and 4’’ PVC pipe, a pine board (1’’ x 12’’ x 24’‘) and some 1/2’’ wooden dowels and put it all together today. I wanted all the materials for this to come from the ”junk” laying around his place and also because I am cheap! The hardest (tedious) part was drilling all the holes in the PVC. Anyway I think he will like it and I doubt he even makes any cheese with it. LOL He just wanted one!
It measures 12’’ x 12’’ and the dowels are 13’’ tall from the base board. The PVC pieces are 5’’ in height. The follower is pine and was cut on the bandsaw. It measures 5 7/8’’ in diameter. I use the 4’’ PVC pipe on top the follower, put the top board on and then put whatever weight you are gonna use. Anyway, it looks like it will work fine if he wants to try it out.
Thanks for the looks and comments.
