Two radically different styles of candle holders. One in walnut with Danish Oil finish. One in Maple with clear, gloss ploy. Both spent some time on the lathe but also required other operations. These were both prototypes for Christmas presents.

Very nice Lew. The maple looks extremely labor intensive!
Someone’s getting some great presents.

Thanks for posting.

Real nice Lew
Did you do the spiral the hard way by drilling out a series of holes or do you have one of those “Legacy” machines that will mill out a spiral?
A lot of hard work…. real nice

Beautiful candlesticks.

Great looking jobs! Looking at that second one reminds me how much I hate sanding.

Those are some gorgeous candleholders. You say Prototypes. How many “finals” did you make for gifts? I hope they all appreciate them as much as I would. They’re priceless! I don’t think I’ve ever seen your walnut design in wood; they are always in metal—pewter, brass or silver. Your spiral, well, it’s absolutely breathtaking to anyone who realizes ALL the work that went into it! And, come to think of it, I believe I’ve seen a similar design in metal, too. Making them in wood certainly raises the bar! Outstanding!
