Here is a cheap and cheerful planter box I put together in a few hours. Simple 20mm horizontal frames top and bottom then 12mm reclaimed Oregon planks nailed to the frames all round. I put a little detail into each joint with the table saw to break up the sides, my friend Ted thought it would look better than flat boards – I agreed.
A little Tightbond 3 and lots of nails holds it all together. I tidied up the ends with my hand plane then rounded all of the edges with a little 60 grit sand paper.
Finished with 2 coats of decking oil to match the rest of the outdoor set. The bottom frame has 2 extra slats to sit a pot onto, I put a plywood platform around the top of the pot for the bark to sit on.
Thanks for looking :)
