I was commissioned to build this cupcake box for some friends daughter as a Christmas gift,

Wood that I used was Walnut for the bottom half, spalted hackberry for the top half and Mahogany for the top handle. it measures 5 1/2” x 6” to the top of the handle stem.

So if you LJ’s would please comment and let me know what you think this is supposed to look like I’d really appreciate it. Happy guessing :)

I want to thank you all for participating with guessing what it was I have edited the original post to show it’s a cupcake with cherry on top :)

Pretty darn cool. Once again, you’ve changed the level of bandsaw boxes.

Looks delicious…! Well Done…
You could have used some sort of wood loke bloodwood for the handle to give it a cherry look.

Thanks everyone

Greg I actually went with red cedar at first but due to the soft wood I feared the stem wouldn’t hold up and all I had that was red in my inventory was Mahogany, I also thought about white maple dyed red now that would have worked as well.

Randy, That is waaay cool! The lift out tray is extra nice and the cherry on the top is….....”the cherry on the top”. Your entry cuts are invisable! Great job.

Randy, you nailed it. I have been trying to picture what you would come up with and this is way better than what I was thinking.

Great job.

Looks great Randy. The only other thing you could have done would be to sculpt the lid a bit to give it that whipped frosting effect…..

Thanks Marty

Funny you should mention that, I was talking to Joey about this via PM before starting the project about that very thing and was going to do sculpting on the lid, after I started I decided to hold off as since I’ve not done any sculpting, I’m going to need some time to practice it.
