Made this 4 years ago for my son for Christmas (5 years old now, so he was 1 at the time). His bedroom is done in antique planes, but didn’t really have any shelf space. His room is a bit small for a full-blown bookshelf to fit in with the crib, changing table, etc. that was in there at the time. But he needed somewhere to keep his various baby trinkets. The solution: wall-mounted storage.

Looks like it needs dusting – sorry about that :)

Nothing fancy here either – just pine boards, dowels, and a jig-sawed 2×4 for the plane body. I cheated and got the propeller at a hobby shop (pretty sure I bought the wheels at a craft store too). I don’t recall for sure who painted this one, but I believe it was probably my wife.

I did have fun making the nose-cone for the propeller though – made a jig to spin a dowel through a round-over bit on a cheap router table, then cut it off the dowel.

Anyway, just thought this might give someone some ideas for Christmas gifts for the little guys.
