Made this for Christmas for my Daughter 3 or 4 years ago to go in her room. It obviously sees a lot of use. The “Doll House” theme was my wife’s idea – she came up with the idea, and painted it once I finished building it.

It’s made from big-box store solid pine 1x, with a 1/4” ply back. All Dado joints (my first time making them). Dados were cut with a hand-held router and a straight edge clamped in place. No face-frame since it was being painted (and I didn’t think I could make a decent-looking face-frame with my tools and skill set at the time).

Again nothing fancy here – very simple and functional woodshop-101 type stuff. But it was fun to build, she loves it, it goes nicely in her room, and it’s extremely useful for storing the kinds of things that accumulate in a 7-year-old-girl’s room – especially with the baskets.
