I think it is an honor when a project gets used in such a manner.
Nice work.

very nice Sylvann…one question…i noticed the “ends” or “handles” are different on each end…the ends near the top in your photo…they almost look like they are red or out of a different wood…but in the first photo they look similar in color…just curious…
thanks for sharing these!

I agree with Todd. It is humbling for me as a craftsman to play even a small part in projects that have held such an important place in our lives for so so many generations. Wonderful work Sylvann

I was asked why “”the “ends” or “handles” are different on each end…& …they almost look like they are red or out of a different wood…”” The Handles are different because: The bottom handle is bigger because it holds the weight; the top handles are small enough to hold a decorative metal covering. Yes the color is different, this was an accident – there appeared to be a coating in the handles that changed the color of the stain – I did try to sand the handles again but the color never was the same. But that is OK this was the first time that we made Torah Scroll Holder, next time we will sand the handles better before staining. The first time is just practice. Thank you for asking… Sylvann

beautiful work there!
but once the scribe is in how will you fasten the handles without damaging the scroll?

I was asked ” but once the scribe is in how will you fasten the handles without damaging the scroll?” ANSWER: I made a “Torah Scroll Holder”, the “scroll” is the paper or parchment (made of animal skin). When the holder is completed and cleaned – then the scroll is added to the pole—there should be a slit in the middle of the center pole to slide the scroll through – the parchment will slide into the slit and the rolling begins. You must have 2 Torah Scroll Holder for the scroll and you roll at both ends. After trying 3 times to put the slit in the center of the pole, I was not able there for we just started rolling and let the tightness of the paper hold the paper to the wood pole and it worked. The first time is just practice. I have not been able to repair my Delta Belt Saw yet.
