ok here we go ,I found the lumber for this project in the firewood pile it is spalted maple, with poplar drawer sides and bottom which is lined with blue felt. I did all the milling for this, and salvaged the knob from an box of knobs and stuff which i bought at an auction for a buck. the dimensions are 8×8 x 3.Then finished it in some boiled linseed oil.

That’s such beautiful wood. Great save, great project.

Nice wood and a different design. It looks good. The knob seems a bit big, but what do I know. Thanks for sharing.

Outstanding box….I’ve got to go with Mr. Triplett on the knob….All wood….but I can understand using that one…Bob

I also thought the knob might be a bit big as well,I was thinking for the ease of just grab and pull drop in the keys and continue on my way …...also it was the smallest one i had…..lol and cheap! thanks for liking it

I love that stuff don’t you? I use it all the time. Here’s a box I made with a top using spalted maple, see if it looks somewhat like the wood in yours – http://lumberjocks.com/projects/62354
