Here is project #2 in what “was” a series of 3 bedroom items for a friend’s sons…....the series now includes 4th and 5th projects (a king size platform bed and matching night stands). Anyway, after watching the Wood Whisperer’s weekend wall shelf video, I decided to go that route. Seen here is a similar shelf of red oak…...instead of 8/4 material, I laminated 2 pieces of 3/4 to achieve the thickness. I threw together a quick jig for cutting the dados, and it worked like a champ….nice snug fit. Sanded everything to 220 and finished with Watco (medium walnut with the addition of transtint medium brown).......it was about 35 degrees in the garage when the Watco was applied, so it will need a few more days inside to cure out…....will probably install above the bed this weekend.

Later,
joe

I like efficient designs.

Looks good MOJOE! I did a wine rack for my Mother-in-law last Christmas, similar to that design.
