I believe this was my second project. I was still working out in the driveway with very few tools. I purchased a pocket-hole jig and put it to use. This table is very weak but fortunately the dozen or so shoes it can hold do not weigh very much. My finishing had improved slightly from my first project but still needed some work (to be quite honest it still does!). Again made with store-bought, dressed pine. In the old house it sat just inside the front door and held keys, mail, and of course shoes. Today it resides in the laundry room closet working hard to keep it organised.

Rob,

This is an interesting and functional project. I like the design of the piece. I agree with Jerry’s comment about finishing. But, with practice, your technique will improve. You may also like to read some of the books by Bob Flexner and Jeff Jewitt.

Thanks for the post.

This is a very novel and simple design for a shoe rack and you have executed it very professionally. I have saved it for my future work. Sharad

this would make a nice replacement to the ugly metal one that we have just inside our front door.
I may have to find the time to put one together myself.
nice work, I like the color.
