I finaly bought a lathe its just a HF mini but you have to start some were. With all the nice mallet’s I figured why not make one for my first project so here it is. The head is 2 1/2” round 6” long made of ash. The handle is 1 3/8 round 10” long made of oak. Gunstoctk stain with a couple coats of polyurhtane. It weighs in at 14 3/4 ounces. I also posted this on the mallet thread.

-- My theroy in wood working will be. If I'm not enjoying doing it i won't do it.

Nice work and congrats on your new lathe. Seeing your work maybe I need to get off my butt and make a couple of these. More than once I have had need and always make do with a block of wood. Time to get out of the stone age and modernize I suppose? (laughing)

Your off to a nice start.
Nothing like lathe work… it’s a great way to create.
