I made a Roubo book stand inspired by Roy Underhill for one of the brothers at my lodge. Which is not all that inspiring however I did this in the traditional style as I call it. Not a single power tool touched this project in my shop. Including the banding that that was inlaid with a home made plane made especially for inlaying banding. yes that means I hand planed the wood, cut with a coping saw and not a scroll saw, hand cut the 8 inch white oak length wise.

The plain side is where the book goes and the side with the inlay is the back.
The finish is a french polish style with many coats of very thin shellac.

Just figured I would share.

That sounds like a fun project to do by hand-only. Well done!
